Gambling Authority of Botswana and Boitekanelo College Collaborate to Promote Responsible Gambling

The Gambling Authority of Botswana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boitekanelo College to foster a safer and more informed gambling environment in the country.

Central to the authority’s mission is the promotion of responsible gambling, a goal that is reinforced by this new partnership designed to integrate academic expertise with public advocacy. The collaboration is grounded in a shared commitment to building informed communities across Botswana. By combining their respective expertise in public education and responsible gambling advocacy, both institutions aim to create a lasting social impact.

The partnership is guided by four core objectives aimed at safeguarding the public and upholding the integrity of the gambling sector. These include enhancing public awareness and education about the potential risks of gambling, supporting research to gain deeper insights into gambling behaviors and their impact on Batswana, fostering community engagement through the promotion of Motshameko o Phepa (Clean Play), and developing preventative measures to address gambling-related harm before it occurs.
