Gambling Authority Joins Mahalapye Gen-U Tour to Promote Responsible Gambling
The Gambling Authority of Botswana recently participated in the Mahalapye District Gen-U Tour to promote responsible decision-making and protect young people from gambling-related harm.
The Mahalapye District Gen-U (Generation Unlimited) Tour is a youth empowerment initiative in Botswana, co-hosted by the Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs (MYGA), UNICEF, and other partners.
Operating under the theme “Healthy Minds, Productive Youth,” the tour brought together local youth and key stakeholders to empower young people to take a leading role in economic diversification.

The tour is a nationwide job campaign connecting local talent directly with businesses, regional employers, and digital work opportunities. It features entrepreneurship panels focused on career growth and sustainable livelihoods, along with a seven-day training camp that equips youths aged 10–24 with skills to pitch social change ideas and develop grassroots solutions.
The Authority operates under a mandate to promote responsible choices and protect young people from gambling-related harm. Its participation highlights the importance of collaboration between gambling regulators, government institutions, and development partners in addressing issues affecting young people.
By supporting such initiatives, the Authority seeks to advocate for responsible livelihood choices and educate attendees on economic diversification, contributing to the development of healthier and more productive communities in Botswana.
