CANAL+ is set to strengthen its position in Africa’s pay-TV sports market after securing exclusive rights to UEFA’s men’s club competitions across more than 40 Sub-Saharan African countries. The four-season agreement will take effect from mid-2027 and run through 2031, and will cover the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League in all languages.
The new arrangement will maintain SuperSport’s presence in English- and Portuguese-speaking African markets, where the broadcaster will continue to provide exclusive coverage of the three UEFA competitions to its subscribers.
In French-speaking Africa, viewers will get full Champions League coverage on CANAL+ Sport, along with French-language coverage of the Europa League and Conference League for the first time.

The UEFA rights will complement CANAL+ and SuperSport’s existing football portfolio, which includes the Premier League, LALIGA EA SPORTS, Ligue 1 and South Africa’s Betway Premiership, as well as the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026.
The agreement will also bring some of Europe’s biggest clubs and African football stars back into the spotlight for audiences across the continent. Players including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Serhou Guirassy, Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo, Antoine Semenyo, Nicolas Jackson, Michael Olise and Achraf Hakimi are among the African stars competing in Europe’s top club competitions.
