Gabon Public Gaming Launches its Online Platform

Gabon’s public gaming operator, La Gabonaise des Jeux (GDJ), has opened its operations and online platform, gdjbet.com, in an effort to tighten monitoring of gambling activities and address concerns about transparency.
The operator launched its operations and unveiled its portfolio of online gambling products during a ceremony held in Libreville on October 22. Vice-President of the Government Hermann Immongault, Interior Minister Edgar Moukoumbi, government officials, representatives from foreign organizations and local authorities, as well as stakeholders from the economy and civil society, were present at the official inauguration.
According to Moukoumbi, the state took over the gambling industry due to a lack of clarity and transparency. He urged GDJ’s management to pursue its duties with ambition, innovation and accountability.
He added that GDJ’s goals include creating wealth that benefits the country, fostering trust, and providing the public with a fresh perspective on games of chance.

The online platform, gdjbet.com, offers sports betting, lotteries, virtual games, scratch cards, casino games and horse racing.
Romeo Nguema, Director General of GDJ, declared that the company would conduct its activities in compliance with existing laws and the duties of the pertinent authorities. “To our partners and operators in the sector, we propose a relationship based on clear rules and respect for each party’s commitments.”
The company emphasized responsible gaming as well. The age and access restrictions set forth by the appropriate regulations will govern participation in its games. Its declared commitments would also include preventing excessive gambling and educating gamers about related risks.
GDJ promotes its online platform as a key component of its gaming offering, and its launch signifies the beginning of its operational activities. The action has been presented by the government as part of its initiatives to strengthen the administration of gambling operations in Gabon and address issues about transparency.
