Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and betPawa officially launched the Locker Room Bonus initiative in Kenya, the first-ever structured sponsorship focused solely on women’s football.
The partnership, celebrated with the FKF Women’s Cup draws in Nairobi, marks a bold move toward gender equity in sport and direct athlete empowerment.
Locker Room Bonus is flagship sponsorship initiative of betPawa that delivers instant mobile money payouts to athletes and technical staff, right after a match ends. No middlemen. No delays. No waiting for “processing.”
And in Kenya’s Women’s Cup, here’s what that looks like:
- KSH 3,300 per player and coach, per win
- 26 team members (23 players + 3 technical staff) receive the payout
- That’s a total of KSH 85,800 per winning team
- In the final, the stakes are even higher:
- KSH 4,550 per person
- A total of KSH 118,300 for the Cup winners
- Note: Draws do not qualify for bonuses, this is performance-based, not participation-based
A demo match demonstrated the Locker Room Bonus’s operation during the Nairobi launch event. A diverse mix of visitors and competitors participated, and the winners received KSH 1,200 in their mobile money wallets within minutes after the final whistle.
At the launch, Raquel Puig, betPawa’s Head of CSR & Sports Development, shared, “In sports, applause fades fast. Bonus doesn’t. With Locker Room Bonus, we’re turning efforts on the pitch into instant reward. We’ve seen the talent. We’ve seen the passion. Now we’re bringing the system and the structure that backs it up.”

For players, this initiative brings dignity to the game. It means that hard-fought wins come with something more than bragging rights. It gives them a little more financial breathing room, to pay for transport, help family, buy gear, or just feel like professionals.
For women’s football in Kenya, it adds structure and real incentives to a sport often fueled by passion alone.
And for betPawa, it’s another step in a growing movement. Since 2022, Locker Room Bonus has rolled out across Ghana, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, and now Kenya, proving that investment in African sport doesn’t have to wait years to make an impact.
