ELigue 1 Tour Competition Returns to Kenya for the Third Year

ESports Kenya Federation have announced the return of the eLigue 1 tour esports competition to Kenya for the third year in a row.

The eLigue 1 Tour, in collaboration with EA SPORTS, is Ligue 1 Uber Eats’ international esports
competition open to gamers and football fans aged 16 and above. Last season’s edition saw 264 participants turn up, with the broadcast of the Kenyan grand finals clocking+260 000 views on TikTok.

The third edition is seeing a boost up from the previous two editions which were held in Nairobi. Eligue 1 tour will be held held in three cities: Mombasa, Nakuru and Nairobi unlike in the past two editions that it was featured only in Nairobi.

Prizes

The winner of the eLigue 1 Tour Kenyan edition will secure a fully paid trip to Paris, France for a VIP treat
of Ligue 1 Uber Eats action. They will also secure a chance to compete in the eLigue 1 Tour Finals for the international title. As well as a share of the €8,000/ Ksh. 1.2 Million prize. Winners will enjoy a weekend at the heart of Ligue 1 Uber Eats; experiencing matches in VIP conditions and a tours around Paris.

The breakdown of the prizes at the eLigue1 Tour Finals in Paris is as follows; First €3,500, Second €1.500, Third to Fourth €750, Fifth to Eighth €375. Kenyan eLigue 1 Qualifiers, the following prizes shall be offered first Sh 25,000, Second Sh 15,000, Third Sh 10,000 and Fourth Sh 5,000.

On the Tournament Ronny Lusigi, Esports Kenya President said, “Esports Kenya Federation is happy to support the eLigue1tour this year. We recognize the importance of such tournaments where Kenyan gamers get an opportunity to play at the global stage. We continue to call on more partners to jump on the esports bandwagon. ”

The defending champion, Eric “Demon” Ngige, said, “I am focused on bringing my best game on the match day. I know as defending champion, everyone will have their eyes on me. I am however confident that I can handle the pressure. These are the situations that determines great players and I want to be a great player”
