Gifty-Rita Amoah on Law, Leadership, and Women in Gaming
Gifty-Rita Amoah, Ambassador for Women in Gaming, is a legal mind and a vocal advocate for women in the gaming sector. In a candid conversation with iGaming AFRIKA during the Africa Gaming Expo 2025, (AGE) Gifty opened up about her journey through the iGaming industry as a legal practitioner, her role in fostering inclusivity, and the ongoing push for regulatory structure and gender equality. Her insights shed light on the often unseen but critical work legal professionals do to uphold the integrity of the gaming sector and the powerful potential of women’s leadership within it.
Transitioning from corporate immigration law into the iGaming sector wasn’t just a career move for Gifty. It was a leap into uncharted territory. “It’s been challenging but in the same vein, it’s been a really good learning curve for me,” she said, reflecting on her early days in the industry. As part of the regulatory framework, Gifty-Rita Amoah finds herself frequently cast as the “bad guy,” especially when enforcing rules that others might prefer to overlook.

In a sector driven by innovation and high stakes, her role is to ensure that no shortcuts are taken, no matter how minor they seem. “If you allow everybody to get away with a minor requirement… it becomes a jungle of who can get away with what,” she explained. Her work emphasizes the importance of standards, structure, and fairness, values often underappreciated but critical for their sustainable growth.
Gifty’s legal influence is matched by her advocacy for women in gaming. As an ambassador for Women in Gaming, she has witnessed significant, if gradual, changes in the landscape. “What I saw when I joined the industry, there weren’t a lot of women,” she recounted. Now in her ninth year in gaming, Gifty- Rita Amoah acknowledges the growth but remains clear-eyed about the challenges ahead.
This year’s AGE LAGOS event saw a notable increase in female participation, a shift that Gifty celebrates but also uses to highlight the ongoing need for more inclusive leadership. “Hopefully the diversity and inclusion conversation will grow… and we have more women in executive positions and in operational positions rather than just being support or back office,” she urged. Her call is not just for presence, but for power, ensuring women have seats at the decision-making tables.
