iGamingFuture’s Curtis Roach Unpacks What’s Next at iGF East Africa 2025
As anticipation builds for the milestone event, iGamingFuture East Africa, iGaming AFRIKA sat down with Curtis Roach, Head of Content at iGaming Future, to get an exclusive preview of what’s in store. In this pre-event conversation, Curtis Roach shares what makes iGF East Africa a must-attend, and how it’s shaping the future of gaming in the region.
iGaming AFRIKA – What is iGamingFuture EastAfrica?
Curtis Roach: iGF East Africa is the region’s leading sports betting and iGaming event, taking place 12th June 2025 at Nairobi’s landmark Restaurant and Events complex, Carnivore.
Expecting well over 200 delegates, we are creating a centralised hub for the leading operators to connect, learn and help to shape the future of the East African iGaming industry.
This milestone event began as just a simple iGF Supper Club, an intimate, design-led space tailored specifically for leading operators and future-thinkers in the region to come together, share ideas and collaborate to help push the industry forward. This event was such a success, it highlighted an unsatisfied demand in East Africa for high-level networking and learning events, designed specifically for operators.
In 2025, the iGF East Africa event is poised to finally meet the region’s needs, creating a free-to-attend specialist hub for like-minded industry leaders to meet and work together. All with ambitions of finding new, sustainable paths to growth.
Key topics on the agenda will include regulatory frameworks, localised products, content trends, CRM, plus many more. This event is a must-attend for those who are focused on the sustained growth of the East African iGaming market and appreciate the value of industry collaboration in doing this.
iGaming AFRIKA – Why has iGamingFuture decided to launch the iGaming East Africa event?
Curtis Roach: For too long, the flourishing Sub-Saharan African iGaming market has been seemingly under-served by the international events industry. A noticeable lack of quality, value-adding networking events has left a bad taste in the mouths of many key stakeholders in East African iGaming. But this fast-growing iGaming region is showing a promising increase in demand for international relationship-building opportunities and innovative ways to grow within the market.

This is the driving factor behind the launch of the inaugural iGF East Africa Show. On Thursday, 12 th June key iGaming hubs across the East African region–including Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda–will come together for a unique learning and networking experience.
Featuring a full day of value-adding conference panels, iGaming Future East Africa (iGFEA) will tackle and explore the most pertinent industry topics in the region: from regulation to marketing, and on to game content.
Being a part of the iGFEA community is not just about keeping up to date with industry affairs and doing business. It’s also about playing an active role in creating a future of iGaming that is sustainable and beneficial for everyone, making it an essential hub for those with ambitions of making a significant impact in this exciting market.
iGaming AFRIKA – Why is the East region so significant for the growth of the African iGaming industry in general?
Curtis Roach: East Africa is renowned for being the tech hub of the continent. Innovative products such as M-PESA, the mobile payments app, have revolutionised the market, giving wider access to consumers and facilitating the market’s exponential growth.
In a recent report, H2 Gambling Capital published results detailing that online betting in Kenya will grow by 76% in the next 5 years and other key East African markets such as Tanzania are expected to demonstrate growth of over 150% over the next half a decade in Online Casino alone. With Online lottery in Uganda increasing by 100% within the same period!
These are just a snapshot of the exciting developments occurring within this region and offers further validation for iGaming stakeholders hoping to expand their customer base in East Africa.
