Supersport Channels To Air All 52 Afcon Matches on DSTV: Multichoice

MultiChoice Group has announced that its SuperSport channels through DSTV will broadcast all 52 games of the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) football tournament hosted by Côte d’Ivoire.

Initially, MultiChoice had stated that it failed to acquire the exclusive broadcasting rights for AFCON 2023, causing concern among African football fans without access to the winning broadcaster, New World TV. However, MultiChoice has now confirmed that through a sublicensing agreement, the SuperSport channels on its DStv and GOtv digital satellite platforms will air all AFCON matches.

The news was shared on the DStv Nigeria Twitter account, with fans being told they can “Watch all 52 matches of the #afcon2023 on @supersports.”

Other broadcasters like StarTimes and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) have reportedly also struck deals to air AFCON 2023, providing further options for fans to watch the games.

The AFCON tournament is set to start this Saturday, with hosts Côte d’Ivoire going up against Guinea-Bissau at 9pm local time. The inclusion of SuperSport as a broadcasting platform will come as a relief to football fans who were left uncertain about how they would be able to watch the live matches.

MultiChoice’s decision to secure the sublicensing agreement highlights its commitment to meeting the demands of African football fans and ensuring that they have access to the continent’s premier football tournament. As the tournament kicks off, fans can now look forward to watching all 52 games from the comfort of their own homes, thanks to SuperSport and the sublicensing agreement with MultiChoice.
