The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board has announced the immediate closure of the operations of betting company Advanced Gaming Limited, trading as 1XBET in Uganda.
This comes after the operator sent an official notice to the regulatory authority informing it of the brand’s decision to cease gaming activities in Uganda.
The board further urged the brand’s customers to withdraw their winnings and deposits from their 1XBet accounts.

The NLGRB’s announcement is in fulfillment of section 4(j) of the Lotteries and Gaming Act 2016, which mandates the Gaming Board to promote transparency and accountability.
Feedback from the general public has seen iGaming AFRIKA establish that customers who responded to the news were more of the view that the board should ensure that they don’t lose their money as a result of the closure of 1XBET Uganda.
“Hope it hasn’t left with wins of Uganda,” stated @mozeserugo while reacting to the announcement by the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Authority (NLGRB) on X. Others, like @ infamous_tweep complained of not being able to withdraw their money: “And we can’t withdraw our money.”

iGaming AFRIKA has further established that some users of the platform have been negatively impacted by the shutdown of 1XBET Uganda, @apuuli on X said, “This is bad.”
The announcement is a blow to Africa’s gaming industry, as a number of gaming operators have recently exited various areas. Some significant examples are Hollywoodbet’s withdrawal from Kenya and Pulsebet’s exit from Uganda.
