NLGRB Seizes 8,714 illegal gaming machines in Nationwide Gaming Crackdown

The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has recently successfully confiscated and destroyed 8,714 illegal gaming machines as part of an intensified nationwide enforcement campaign.

This large-scale operation targeted unauthorized gambling activities across several key areas, including the Kampala Metropolitan area, Greater Kampala, and the Northern, Eastern, and Western regions of Uganda.

Supported by the National Enterprise Corporation of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces(NECUPDF), the Board has moved to physically destroy the seized equipment to ensure it cannot be returned to circulation. This collaboration highlights a rigorous effort to eliminate illegal operations that bypass national regulations and oversight.

The primary objective of this crackdown is to safeguard players from the possible risks associated with unregulated gambling. By removing these machines from the streets, the NLGRB aims to promote a safe, fair, and responsible gaming environment throughout the country.

The Board has reaffirmed, “We continue to work relentlessly to eliminate illegal operations, safeguard players from the risks of unregulated gambling, and promote a safe, fair, and responsible gaming environment across Uganda. Player Protection is Our Priority.”
