June 26th, 2023: An African esports confederation, which goes by the name African Confederation of Digital Sports (ACDS) has recently been formed during the general assembly meeting hosted by the Fédération Royale Marocaine des Jeux Électroniques, the governing body for esports in Morocco.
The assembly saw esports stakeholders from 40 African nations attend. Furthermore, executive members of the confederation were elected to chair the organization.
ACDS seeks to bring together the digital sports governing bodies across every African country in order to establish a thriving and sports-centric ecosystem that involves diverse industry stakeholders such as governments, corporations, associations, and athletes. Its core goal is to foster unity.

As a result, the Confederation’s members extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Kingdom of Morocco and His Majesty King Mohammed VI for hosting the crucial Constitutive General Assembly, which fosters the progress of digital sports in Africa and the continent’s broader sports advancement.

Upon being elected as President of ACDS and also the President of the Fédération Royale Marocaine des Jeux Électroniques, Mr. Hicham EL KHLIFI expressed his enthusiasm by saying,
The Constitutive General Assembly of ACDS marks the beginning of an exciting new era for digital sports in Africa. We are determined to position Africa as a global leader in the digital sports industry, providing opportunities for talented players, promoting inclusivity, and generating enthusiasm among fans.
The ACDS is the fourth esports confederation to emerge, following the African Esports Development Federation (AEDF) launched by the Global Esports Federation, African Esports Association (AESA) established by the International Esports Federation, and the African Esports Federation established by the Egyptian sports minister.
