AGOK Named Safer Gambling Champion at Gamble Alert’s Responsible Gaming Awards 2026

Recognition affirms AGOK’s industry leadership on player protection as it rolls out Chukua Control, a digital-first responsible gaming campaign for the World Cup season.
NAIROBI, KENYA – [29.06.2026] – The Association of Gaming Operators, Kenya (AGOK) has been named Safer Gambling Champion in the Industry Association category at the Responsible Gaming Awards 2026, hosted by Gamble Alert in Nigeria. The award recognises AGOK’s exceptional efforts and commitment to promoting responsible gaming practices and upholding regulatory standards across Africa.
The award was presented as part of the wider Gamble Alert Responsible Gaming Symposium, which brought together regulators, operators, and industry advocates from across the continent to examine player protection, regulatory accountability, and harm-reduction standards in African gaming markets.
The recognition comes as AGOK rolls out Chukua Control, a digital-first responsible gaming campaign launched ahead of the World Cup betting season. The campaign puts practical tools directly in front of Kenyan bettors – including deposit limits, self-exclusion options, and the GRA helpline (1190) – through a targeted mix of digital advertising, programmatic out-of-home screens, and earned media.
Speaking on the recognition, John Mutua, CEO of AGOK, said: “This recognition affirms the work our members and partners have put into building a safer betting environment in Kenya. It’s also a reminder of why campaigns like Chukua Control matter – recognition is welcome, but the real measure of progress is whether bettors actually use the tools we put in front of them to stay in control.”
