Celebrating 2024’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Gaming, Africa: Jane Makau

Jane Mwikali Makau holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Management (BA HONS) from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom. She also possesses a Higher National Diploma in Business and Technology from EDEXCEL University UK along with a Diploma in Marketing, Sales, and Advertising from Graffins College.

Moreover, Jane has a certification in Entrepreneurship from the renowned Babson College in Boston, USA, recognized as the best university for entrepreneurship for the past twenty-two years. She is a seasoned entrepreneur and business leader, honored as the top seasoned women entrepreneur by Brandon College. Additionally, she is a certified lead trainer for the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) in Kenya.

With extensive experience in Business Development, Business Intelligence, Project Management, Research & Strategy, and Brand Management & Advertising, Jane is the founder and president of the Great Grace Empowerment Institute in Kenya, certified by NITA, and Neema Supreme Distributors in London, UK, which focuses on fashion.

As an ordained Reverend at Freedom Embassy, which has branches in Kenya, Liberia, and the USA, she has previously served as the Customer Service Manager at Akiba Bank. Jane is known for her positive, passionate, and resilient entrepreneurial spirit.

She is a director at the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority (NWHSA), chairing the Strategy, Technical & Business Development Committee while also being a member of the Governance Risk and Audit Board Committee (GRAC).

Dr. Rev. Jane Makau, who prefers to call herself the Champion of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), is recognized for her involvement in numerous CSR initiatives in Kenya as the Chairperson of the Betting Control and Licensing Board.

Her projects include providing water tanks to schools and stressing the significance of CSR for gaming brands operating in local communities. Jane places great emphasis on responsible gaming and actively engages in public sensitization efforts regarding best gambling practices. She insists that companies comply with existing laws to enhance public protection.
