SportPesa Deepens Roots in Kenya’s Rugby Scene with Ksh16.5 Million Sponsorship

Nairobi, Kenya – SportPesa, a leading online gaming company, has reaffirmed its commitment to Kenya’s sporting ecosystem through a sponsorship partnership with the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) for the 2024 National Sevens Circuit.

The partnership was unveiled at a ceremony held at the RFUEA Grounds, where SportPesa revealed a sponsorship package worth Ksh16.5 million.

This significant contribution will see the circuit continue to be branded as the SportPesa 7s for the second consecutive year, building on the success of the 2023 edition.

The 2024 circuit will take place in five cities across the country over two months, featuring a total prize pot of Ksh2.2 million. SportPesa Rugby Sponsorship

The circuit will kick off on July 27 with the Christie 7s, hosted by Kenya Harlequin, before moving to Kakamega, Kisumu, Mwamba, Mombasa, and Nakuru. Each hosting club will receive Ksh1 million to aid in the organization of their tournaments.

The top-performing teams will be rewarded at the end of each tournament, with a total of Ksh2.2 million up for grabs. The top three teams in the men’s Division 1 will receive Ksh100,000, Ksh50,000, and Ksh25,000 respectively, while the Division 2 men’s winner will pocket Ksh50,000.

In the women’s events, the winner and runner-up will receive Ksh70,000 and Ksh30,000 respectively.

The partnership is expected to further boost the popularity of rugby in the country and provide opportunities for local teams and players to showcase their skills.
