Sun International has officially announced the appointment of the highly regarded gaming executive Ulrik Bengtsson as Group Chief Executive (CEO), effective 1 July 2025, or earlier depending on the securing of his work permit.
Ulrik, a Swedish national, brings nearly 20 years of experience leading international listed companies and consumer services groups in the gaming, betting, broadcasting, and telecoms sectors.
Most recently, he served as CEO of the UK-based gaming group William Hill plc, and prior to that, he was President and CEO of the Swedish-listed online gaming group Betsson AB.
Upon Ulrik’s arrival, he will succeed the outgoing Chief Executive, Anthony Leeming, who has formally notified the board of his intention to retire early from Sun International on 31 December 2025 to pursue personal opportunities outside the group.
Anthony has been with Sun International for 26 years, making substantial contributions throughout his tenure. The board expresses gratitude to Anthony for his unwavering commitment to the company and group, particularly during the last eight years in his role as Chief Executive.

Anthony will officially step down as Chief Executive on 1 July 2025 but will remain with the company until December 2025 to collaborate with Ulrik and ensure a seamless transition.
As Sun International continues its significant transformation from a traditional land-based casino and resort operator to a comprehensive omnichannel player with a strong online presence, Ulrik’s extensive experience and successful track record will play a crucial role in further accelerating this strategic journey.
