YesPlay Appoints Tebogo Makamo as CEO to Accelerate Growth in South Africa’s Betting Industry
YesPlay has announced the appointment of Tebogo Makamo as its new Chief Executive Officer, a move aimed at driving innovation, enhancing the customer experience, strengthening partnerships, and accelerating sustainable growth in South Africa’s betting market.
Makamo has a long-standing relationship with YesPlay, having worked closely with the company through CDP Gaming Technologies, its primary software provider for the betting ecosystem. With more than 30 years of experience in gaming technology, operations, and compliance, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of CDP Gaming Technologies since 2015, playing a key role in shaping YesPlay’s technical infrastructure and customer offering.
Makamo’s professional journey began in 1995 and is defined by a rare combination of commercial leadership and deep regulatory expertise. Before his tenure at CDP, he is the Founder and CEO of Gron Digital, a blockchain-based open gaming utility platform developed to increase transparency and security within the betting industry.
His extensive executive background includes several high-level regulatory and operational roles across influential organizations. He served as Vice President of Operations for Africa and Europe at BMM Testlabs, acted as the Head of Compliance at the Gauteng Gambling Board, and was the Gaming Lab Manager at the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS). Additionally, he held senior leadership positions at Route Monitoring and the Mpumalanga Gambling Board.
