Celebrating 2024’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Gaming, Africa: Jodi Scholtz

Jodi Scholtz is an accomplished and results-oriented professional currently serving as the Commissioner of the National Lotteries Commission in South Africa. With over 25 years of experience in administrative leadership and strategic management, Jodi has made significant contributions to both the public and private sectors, specializing in organizational development, compliance, and turnaround strategies. 

Since assuming the role of Commissioner in February 2023, Jodi has been instrumental in driving initiatives that enhance the integrity and sustainability of the National Lotteries Commission. Prior to this position, she served as the Lead Administrator for the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), where she played a vital role in restructuring the organization and ensuring its continued accreditation. 

Throughout her 18-year tenure at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTIC), Jodi was dedicated to fostering compliance and facilitating performance improvements. As Chief Operating Officer, she led the development of the department’s strategic and operational plans, contributing to multiple unqualified audits. Additionally, her roles as Chairperson of various ethical and risk management committees strengthened the organization’s accountability and performance monitoring processes.

Jodi has also represented South Africa on international platforms, addressing critical issues such as gender-responsive standards at the United Nations and the International Standards Organization. With a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Pretoria and additional qualifications from renowned institutions such as Harvard University and UC Berkeley, Jodi combines her educational background with extensive practical experience to navigate complex organizational landscapes. Her exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a proactive and detail-oriented approach, have enabled her to thrive in high-pressure environments.

Outside her professional endeavors, Jodi Scholtz is passionate about creating healthy and sustainable workplace cultures that foster collaboration and support for all employees. She remains a dedicated mentor and team player, continually striving for excellence while contributing to the betterment of her community.
