Gaming Technology Regulation is Key to Fairness, Safety, and Transparency in the Industry: Caroline Kongwa

Caroline Kongwa, the Chief Strategic Adviser at the National Gambling Board in South Africa, emphasizes the importance of regulating the use of various gaming technologies in the African gambling sector.

She believes that this regulation is crucial in order to guarantee player safety, fairness by gambling sites to players, and transparency in the industry.

Caroline adds that regulation will also provide clarity on how these technologies are offered to punters to prevent cheating and ensure fairness.

In an exclusive interview with iGaming AFRIKA, Caroline says, “The best thing and our approach would be looking at regulating more the use of technology. We wouldn’t want a situation where punters or gamblers are cheated or there is unfairness.”

Caroline, who has a background in law, highlights that technology can be utilized to oversee protection in the highly vulnerable gaming sector.

She further explains that responsible gambling campaigns can also be effectively managed through the use of technology, and initiatives such as self-exclusion can be implemented through technological means.
