Ronny Lusigi Elected Esports Federation Kenya President

27th September 2023, Nairobi, Kenya: Ronny Lusigi, 28, has been voted President of the Esports Federation Kenya during the elections that were held at Nairobi’s Ngong Hills Hotel. Ronny, the Founder and CEO of IndexG Esports, achieved the resounding triumph after clinching an astounding 23 votes, while his lone opponent, Mwaniki Mwanzia, only received four votes. Following his victory, Ronny Lusigi conveyed his appreciation to the esports fraternity for their composed involvement and for relying on him and his squad.

We thank everyone for competing in a dignified manner, and we are grateful as a team for the delegates who have believed in us, and we shall put our best foot forward to take this sport to greater heights.

He stated after being crowned winner in the elections.

The administration led by Lusigi has pledged to give foremost importance to a strategic plan that places emphasis on enhancing the standing of athletes in the esports realm.

We will go back and come up with a proper strategic plan and put our athletes at the centre of everything we do.

Lusigi added.

Ann Odhiambo, who received an outstanding 22 votes in the vice presidential elections, will complement Lusigi’s leadership. She defeated her opponent Celine Leroshion, who only garnered 5 votes. Upon her election, Ann emphasized her dedication to inclusive gaming.

Women play games as well. We have a lot of gamers who are girls, and we are planning on bringing more women to esports. Moving forward, we want to make our social media presence well known and teach people about esports and the variety of games that are available, and give them the opportunity to compete outside the country.

Ronny Lusigi and Ann Odhiambo will be accompanied in their mission by a team of capable esports enthusiasts and experts, featuring John Ojiambo, Omar Sadique Mohammed, John Shinakha, Hellen Kairu, and Brian Ochanda, who will serve as first vice president, secretary general, life member representative, treasurer, and athlete representative, respectively. The Federation’s aim to extend the scope of esports in Kenya will be accomplished through partnerships with technology firms, as stated by Corporate Member Representative Michael Lulu who confirmed this plan.

We will work with the technology companies to see if they can come to our country and build a bigger presence by setting up some centres of excellence where marginalised communities can come and get introduced to gaming.

  • Hellen Kairu – Treasurer (20 votes), Lydia Bisereri – Treasurer (7 votes)
  • Brian Ochanda – Athlete Representative (24 votes), Moses Koech – Athlete Representative (3 votes)
