ALGA Announces Leaders of the Women in Gaming and Lotteries Africa (WIGLA) Group

The African Lotteries & Gaming Association (ALGA) has officially announced the women who will lead the Women in Gaming & Lotteries Africa (WIGLA) group.

Following a majority vote, ALGA appointed four exceptional women in the iGaming industry to steer WIGLA’s mission forward. Ms. Annalisa Emelia S. Samuels has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, while Ms. Shirley Tallam will serve as Group Secretariat. Ms. Lucy Vivi Mwendwa has been named Head of Corporate Social Responsibility & Investment, and Ms. Judith Kgoroba will serve as Head of Events & Stakeholder Relations.

These appointments showcase a deliberate and strategic step toward increasing the influence and leadership of women within the sector, both in Africa and globally. The leaders are expected to leverage their collective expertise and vision to shape how WIGLA operates and delivers on its responsibilities to the African continent.

WIGLA’s mission is deeply rooted in the concept of “mothering” the continent. This reflects a commitment to stewardship and impact, particularly through championing initiatives that empower youth and create sustainable opportunities for growth. By positioning women as influential leaders who drive change, the organisation aims to foster inclusion and contribute directly to socio-economic development across Africa.

The primary goal of this new leadership team is to ensure that women in the gaming and lottery sector are not just visible but are active decision-makers at the highest levels. ALGA expressed its confidence in the new leaders:

We are confident that under their leadership, WIGLA will continue to grow its footprint, strengthen its impact, and set a new benchmark for purpose-driven, inclusive leadership within the gaming and lotteries sector.
